CLEAN INSIGHTS / Prevention

IT cleaning and prevention: a checklist for site managers

A care plan records which areas are checked, who is responsible and what action follows. This checklist helps build a practical overview of your site.

Which rooms belong on the list?

Include floor distribution cabinets, patch rooms, backup locations and technical support rooms alongside the main server room. Use clear room and equipment identifiers. This assigns observations to a location rather than leaving them in a general note labelled IT area.

What is checked, and by whom?

For each area, record accessible surfaces and the person who monitors conditions. Observations may include new deposits, construction residues or obstructed access. Clear responsibilities help organise cleaning, technical maintenance and functional testing.

Which events trigger additional action?

Refurbishment, opened ceilings or unexpected dust ingress can trigger an additional assessment. Record these events in the plan. A specific observation with a location and date is more useful than a general reminder to arrange another clean at some point. For preventive protection, we provide IT dust protection during construction.

Are outstanding items actually closed?

Each entry needs an action, an owner and a completion status alongside the observation. For example: check cabinet tops, room A, facility management responsible, date assigned. After the work, close the item or record a specific next step.
