Before commissioning: cleaning a data centre designed for 56 MW
Approximately 25,000 m², twelve team members and extensive technical infrastructure: between 2023 and 2026, COM.SAR IT Cleaning supported the cleaning of a newly built data centre before commissioning. The facility was designed for a capacity of 56 megawatts.

From rack areas to equipment interiors
The scope covered the data centre areas and the associated power, cooling and building-services infrastructure. It included rack areas, hot and cold aisles, cable trays and technical rooms, as well as medium- and low-voltage installations (MV/LV), panels, transformers, UPS systems, distribution equipment and CRAH units. Interior cleaning of the listed technical equipment and installations formed part of the project. The work therefore extended from room surfaces and infrastructure to internal equipment areas.
Working around construction progress
The main organisational challenge was the dependency on other trades. Many areas could only be cleaned once preceding construction and installation work had been completed. When those activities fell behind schedule, cleaning dates and work sequences had to be adjusted.
Work at height and changing site conditions
Ongoing construction, tight time windows and difficult access required flexible planning. Work at height presented a particular challenge. Access arrangements, suitable equipment and the existing airflow also had to be considered during the work. The twelve-person team worked through the areas as construction progressed, adapting the cleaning programme to changing site conditions and the approaching handover.
Documented completion and handover
Following completion of the cleaning, the data centre was handed over to the operator. Measurement reports, photographic records and acceptance documentation recorded the work performed and the completion of the project. This project illustrates the breadth of comprehensive data centre cleaning, from rack areas and cooling equipment to electrical infrastructure. It also demonstrates the importance of organising the work across multiple construction phases and responding to changes in the construction schedule.
