Server room cleaning: what does it include?
Based on a LinkedIn post published on .
Server room cleaning covers room surfaces, rack areas and, where needed, device interiors. Each task needs suitable methods and a clearly defined scope.

Distinguish three levels of cleaning
Room cleaning covers areas such as floors, cable trays and raised floors. Rack cleaning covers cabinet enclosures and accessible internal surfaces. Device interior cleaning concerns components inside servers, switches or other equipment. A scope should name these levels separately: a clean room does not demonstrate that device interiors have been cleaned. Our server room cleaning service brings these tasks together for your IT environment.
Include less visible surfaces
A clean floor and tidy racks reveal little about concealed deposits. Air inlets, rack undersides, cable trays, technical installations and equipment interiors therefore belong in the initial assessment. Active IT equipment constantly moves air and can draw in particles from its surroundings. After alterations, residues may remain outside the normal field of view. The key questions are where deposits are located, where they came from and whether the chosen method reaches them.
Match methods to surfaces and equipment
Select tools for the materials, access and sensitive components involved. Controlled dust capture aims to remove deposits rather than distribute them through the room. Exposed electronics require an appropriate ESD method of work. Cleaning agents must suit the treated surfaces and manufacturer instructions.
Describe the scope clearly
A useful scope names the surface or installation, the sides to be treated and any special access. For example: cabinet interior and exterior, excluding device interiors. Or: raised floor including accessible supports and floor panels. These descriptions make the work understandable and prevent different expectations.
FOR YOUR PLANNING
